Sculptra® Cosmetic Injectable Filler

Cosmetic:

One of the early signs of aging is a loss of facial fullness and the development of wrinkles. Dr. Lynch offers a number of non-surgical options intended to restore volume and fullness, and soften these facial lines through the use of the latest techniques in cosmetic injectable fillers.

As a woman gets older, the collagen (a protein) that helps makes your skin elastic and firm progressively breaks down.

Your body slows collagen production throughout your adult life. By age 40, most people have up to 20% collagen loss.  This loss of collagen is the underlying cause of lines in the skin and wrinkles and is part of the normal aging process.

Sculptra® refers to a cosmetic injectable filler based on Poly-L-lactic Acid. The intended use is typically for shallow to deep nasolabial fold contour deficiencies (the facial crease between the nose and mouth), and other facial wrinkles.

Poly-L-lactic Acid is a synthetic substance which is gradually and naturally absorbed by the body as it works to replace lost collagen. In practice, it functions similarly to human fat injections by enhancing facial volume in patients who appear to have lost facial fat. Poly-L-lactic acid has been used for decades in dissolvable stitches.

Studies have shown results from Sculptra® lasting up to two years.

Sculptra® works differently than most injectable fillers in that it is considered a “collagen stimulator”. It replaces lost collagen in the area of treatment.  Where fillers are known for immediate results, Sculptra works to replace lost collagen in a series of treatments administered over a period of time by Dr. Lynch. The number of injection sessions and the number of injections per session vary from person to person.

Sculptra® works with your body within the deep dermis, rather than topically, to help revitalize collagen production and help restore your skin’s inner structure and volume. Within the deep dermis, your skin's structure is reinforced as Sculptra helps to replace lost collagen. This reinforced collagen structure provides a foundation that gradually restores the look of fullness in  your shallow to deep facial wrinkles and folds.

Not every “wrinkle filler” is right for every wrinkle. It is important to have your treatment conducted by an experienced and board certified physician such as Dr. Lynch.

Dr. Lynch and the Princeton Rejuvenation Institute provide a range of esthetic services appropriate for men and women of all ages. If you are interested in a Sculptra® Cosmetic Injectable Filler, Dr. Matthew Lynch is available for consultation to discuss the benefits and/or suitability.
